About the Barber Half Dollar

The Barber Half Dollar is an iconic 19th century coin, first introduced in 1892. It was designed by Mint Engraver Charles E. Barber, who also designed the Barber Dime, Quarter, and Half Dollar. The design features Lady Liberty in the form of a visiting figure, with her hair cascade down her back and face with a Phrygian cap on her head. This was designed after Greek coinage, and it was meant to signify independence and freedom.

The coin was minted in ninety percent silver and was produced at the United States Mints in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and New Orleans until the coin ceased in 1915. It can also be noted that the Barber Half Dollar is very rare and valuable.

The Barber Half Dollar is popular amongst coin collectors for its iconic look and relatability to the Greek coinage. The coin features on one side of the coin the figure of a visiting Lady Liberty, with her hair draped down her neck and a Phrygian cap on her head. On the other side, the coin features the head of a bald eagle, a common motif in American coinage.

The Barber Half Dollar remains an important part of America's numismatic history. It is an icon of freedom and liberty and is one of the most sought after coins by coin collectors. From its iconic design to its rarity and value, the Barber Half Dollar is sure to be a popular coinage item for years to come.
