The 1971 Estados Unidos Type 5 20 Cents coin, made of brass (95% copper, 5% zinc), and weighing 10 grams. With a diameter of 28.5 mm, and a thickness of 2.18 mm, and featuring a plain edge.
The obverse is revised coat of arms; made entirely of outlines, larger wreath and finer lettering. It reads "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". The reverse is value at top with radiant liberty cap in between. mint mark under cap. in the center is the pyramid of the sun surrounded by volcanoes on either side. to the right is popocatépetl (known as "the smoking mountain"), an active volcano, and to the left is iztaccihuatl (known as "the white woman), a dormant volcano. teotihuacán (where the pyramid is located) written at pyramid's base. the value and date are at the bottom. It reads "2 LIBERTAD 0 Mo TEOTIHUACÁN CENTAVOS 1971".
