LuckyCoin Weekly — August 11, 2026

August 11, 2026

Silver cleared $65.87 an ounce this week — a 13.1% move in seven days — and if you've been sitting on a cigar box of 90% halves, your stack just got meaningfully heavier. A single 90% silver half dollar now carries $23.83 in melt value, up $2.76 from last week alone. Gold and palladium joined the party too, but silver was the week's standout story for collectors holding circulated pre-1965 coinage.

Metals Snapshot

Gold$4,403.22/oz+8.6%
Silver$65.87/oz+13.1%
Platinum$1,753.76/oz+7.5%
Palladium$1,376.19/oz+8.8%

That 13.1% silver surge pushed an American Silver Eagle's melt value to $65.87 — up $7.62 in a single week — meaning spot and melt are now essentially the same number. On the gold side, a 1 oz Gold Eagle crossed $4,403.22 in melt, a $349.45 week-over-week gain that would have seemed staggering just a few months ago.

Best of the Mint Walking Liberty Set Launches August 6

The U.S. Mint released its third Best of the Mint set on August 6, pairing a half-ounce 24-karat gold coin recreating Adolph Weinman's iconic 1916 Walking Liberty half dollar design with a newly designed one-ounce silver medal. The gold coin carries a Liberty Bell "250" privy mark, and the set is limited to 30,000 with a one-per-household order limit at launch. The Mercury Dime set from earlier in the series sold out at 28,538, so don't sleep on this one.

All 11 Government-Owned 1933 Double Eagles to Appear Together for the First Time

The U.S. Mint will place all 11 of its 1933 Double Eagle gold coins on public display together for the first time on August 28 at the ANA World's Fair of Money in Pittsburgh. The historic exhibit unites the 10 Langbord coins with an 11th example that was voluntarily surrendered by a private collector after the 2011 jury trial — a coin that has never been shown alongside the others. The ANA convention runs August 25–29 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

A 13% silver week and the most legendary gold coins in American history under one roof in Pittsburgh — not a bad time to be a collector. See you next Monday. — Matthew
