The 1999 50 Cents coin, made of stainless steel, and weighing 3.103 grams. With a diameter of 17 mm, and a thickness of 2.15 mm, and featuring a reeded edge.
The obverse is the national emblem of mexico (a mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus devouring a snake above a half-wreath of oak and laurel below and the country name in a semicircle above). It reads "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". The reverse is the denomination in the center with the date above and the mintmark below and a partial border of the stylized designs from the ring of acceptance (anillo de la aceptación; a representation of the god’s acceptance of sacrifice) on the aztec calendar stone (piedra del sol) from the upper left from the upper right. It reads "2012 50¢ Mo".
