The 1953 Estados Unidos Type 2 5 Pesos coin, made of silver (.720) (copper .280), and weighing 27.78 grams. With a diameter of 40 mm, and a thickness of 3 mm, and featuring a smooth with inscription edge.
The obverse is the national arms of mexico in the center with a legend around the upper portion of the coin and the silver content and purity divided by the emblem on both sides and the value in lettering underneath and the mintmark along with the date at the bottom. It reads "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS PESO 27 7/9 G Ley 0.720 CINCO PESOS Mo 1952". The reverse is hidalgo's bust looking left surrounded by a laurel wreath. It reads "HIDALGO".
