The obverse is head of king george vi facing left. . It reads "GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP: HP". The reverse is a beaver with the country name above the date below and the denomination above flanked on both sides by a maple leaf, engraver's initials to the left. It reads "5 CENTS K· G CANADA 1937".
