The Indian $2.5 Coins of 1908-1929 were coins issued by the United States Mint between the years of 1908 and 1929. These coins feature an image of a Native American chief on the obverse side and a heraldic eagle with the denomination "2 1/2 DOLLARS" on the reverse side. The coins contain a 90% gold composition, making them among the most valuable of U.S. coins.
The coins were first issued in 1908 and were minted in four separate designs between 1908 and 1929. This makes them highly collectible and sought after for their rarity and condition. The rarity of the coins is due in part to the relatively small number of coins minted versus the other denominations.
