About the Draped Bust $10

The Draped Bust $10 coin was produced in the United States from 1795 to 1804. It is a valuable coin in the eyes of many collectors due to its age and scarcity.

The first of these coins was struck as an eagle in 1795 and contained a portrait of the first lady of the United States, Lady Liberty. She was depicted with long, flowing hair, and the design is known as "Draped Bust". This design was used on the other denominations of coins in the years to come.

The obverse of the coin also contained the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” written around the rim of the coin. The reverse side of the coin carried the words “TEN D” for the denomination, meaning ten dollars. This was also accompanied by a small eagle with thirteen stars forming a circle around it.

One unique characteristic of the Draped Bust $10 coin was its size. At 39 mm, it was larger than any other circulating U.S. coin at the time. The mintage of the Draped Bust $10 ranged from 6,307 in 1795 to 1,500 in 1804.

These coins were popular for circulation until 1811 when production of the gold dollar coin began. Since then, they have been very popular among collectors due to their rarity. They are graded using the Sheldon scale into Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good and Fine grading systems.

In excellent condition, the coin can be worth up to $250,000. The Authorized U.S. Mint Edition of the Draped Bust $10 also carries a price tag of between $7,000 and $20,000.

In conclusion, the Draped Bust $10 is a rare and valuable coin. It is a sought-after item for many collectors, who have to pay a significant amount of money for featuring the coin in their collection.
