The obverse is uncrowned portrait of king george vi facing left, legend around. It reads "GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX F : D : IND : IMP. HP". The reverse is eurasian wren left (troglodytes troglodytes), date above and denomination below (from the greek 'troglodytes' meaning cave-dweller). It reads "1938 HWP FARTHING".
