The obverse is young uncrowned portrait ('young head') of queen victoria left, legend around. It reads "VICTORIA D:G: BRITANNIAR: REGINA F:D:". The reverse is crowned denomination above date within oak wreath. note: overdate variety exists (see below). It reads "1½ 1838".
