The 1969 Helvetia Standing Half Franc coin, has a total mintage of 83,104,000, struck at the Swiss Mint, Switzerland mint, and engraved by Antoine Bovy. Made of copper-nickel (75% copper, 25% nickel), weighing 2.2 grams, with a diameter of 18.2 mm, and a thickness of 1.25 mm, and featuring a reeded edge.
The obverse is full-length figure of helvetia, standing, facing left, wearing toga, holding a spear in right hand, and supporting shield with coat of arms of switzerland with left hand. 22 stars around, representing the 22 cantons of the swiss confederation. in 1983, a 23rd star was added for the canton of jura, which was founded in 1979. It reads “HELVETIA A. BOVY INCᵀ.”. The reverse is wreath formed of oak and alpine rose branches tied with a ribbon below. It reads “½ Fr. 1969”.
