The obverse is head of the very young queen victoria wearing a laurel wreath, facing left. It reads "VICTORIA DEI GRATIA REGINA. CANADA". The reverse is the face value surrounded by two maple boughs and the crown of queen victoria. It reads "5 CENTS 1858".
