The 1936 King George V Large Dollar coin, has a total mintage of 306,100, struck at the Royal Canadian Mint mint, and engraved by Edgar Bertram MacKennal. Made of silver (.800) (.800 silver .200 copper), weighing 23.33 grams, with a diameter of 36 mm, and a thickness of 2.84 mm, and featuring a milled edge.

The obverse is bust of king george v, wearing a crown, facing left. . It reads "GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND:IMP:". The reverse is a voyageur and an aboriginal traveling by canoe, carrying bundles of which one bears the initials "h.b." for hudson's bay company, are surrounded with the face value and the inscription "canada". It reads "CANADA 1936 DOLLAR".
